My family and I are so excited that PACA has called me to be the next Head Administrator. God has had His mighty hand in this from the beginning and I wanted to share some of that with you as well as a little about my family and me.
Jenny and I met on the campus of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee in 1993 through the Greek system (Sigma Chi and ADPi). We received our degrees in education and then married in the summer of 1995. We have three unique and wonderfully made children: SarahBeth (14), Jackson (12) and Atlee (6). SarahBeth will be attending Astronaut this fall and will be a part of the Fine Arts Academy. Jackson and Atlee will be here at PACA in 6th grade and 1st grade. In addition, we have two golden retrievers, Murphy and Maggie who both are a year old. Actually, we call Maggie a Golden Retriever, but she's truly a Golden "Receiver". She doesn't retrieve anything more than attention.
In my 21 years in education, I have been an administrator for 10 years with the other 11 years in the classroom teaching math. I have continued my love for teaching math and as an administrator, often assign myself a class to stay classroom connected. Prior to having children, Jenny and I completed our Master's in Educational Leadership/Administration at Trevecca Nazarene University in 2000.
After our family began to grow we were anticipating settling where we were, in Clarksville, Tennessee, up through retirement. I was working my way up the education ladder when God intervened in our plans (and everyone around us) and we moved to the Raleigh, North Carolina area to study at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2006. It was at SEBTS that I completed a Masters in Divinity in 2009 and my Doctorate in Education in 2012. Over these 6 years we learned so much more than a seminary or degree could begin to teach. God was teaching us what His guiding hand and provision looked like and how peaceful a fast paced hectic life can be when He is the One making the decisions rather than us knuckleheads. Needless to say a difficult, but most rewarding time in our lives.
God has given me a shepherd's heart to serve and lead His flock in whatever capacity is needed in Christian Education. He has allowed me to lead in public, private and home schools. I am an advocate of all three as I have walked with many students including my own through different seasons with different needs. My true passion is to serve students and their families in a Christian school, as well as serving the local body of Christ with education, administration, or whatever else God puts before me in the church. Here at Park Avenue Baptist Church and PACA, I will be able to do both and I am so grateful and thankful for this calling to serve in this capacity. It has been my philosophy that the school, church, and family must team up and work together unified under the Lordship of Jesus Christ as we train up a child in the way they should go so they will not depart (Proverbs 22:6).
God's timing is perfect. While it is hard leaving family and friends in Tennessee, it is with great joy we join you in our life journey. We never considered moving this direction, and we have so many stories to share as to how God made this path clear and straight. He has enriched our testimony in these few short weeks as we have prepared for this move and we see His hand in every step. We are thankful His plan has brought our family and PACA together. We look forward to raising our children and partnering with you in His mission for PACA and Titusville!
In His Amazing Grip,
Dr. Mac Head Administrator-PACA Pursuing God & Loving People!
